About the Art and the Artist
 Mary Jean began painting after a career as a newspaper executive. She captures light, shadow and shapes in dramatic oil compositions. Mary Jean had a one-person show in the Zabar Gallery at the Studios of Key West in February 2024.
She has served the Key West arts community as a board member and chair at the Studios, and also has served as a board member and chair at the Key West Arts Center, where she shows her work. She has served on the Key West Arts in Public Places board, and she is a member of the Florida Keys Council of the Arts. She has shown her work in Poolside and Small Works exhibits at Jag Gallery.
In early 2024, Mary Jean started dividing her time between Key West and a summer home in Asheville, NC, and has begun painting images from Asheville, as well.
